Cut My Hair

September 30, 2020

Howdy folks this is Hollywood again bringing you more of the story of Johnny’s journey to be cancer free. Johnny has for many many years styled a wonderful mustache and a long head of hair. He knew that his hair would be falling out but he wanted to save his long locks and maybe do something with them. This next video shows you the story of getting his haircut.

The video starts out with Johnny pulling up to the hair salon “Tame Studio” one of his tour vehicles. In classic style Johnny is wearing his signature cowboy hat and wearing a Cave Creek strong T-shirt. Because of the COVID-19 restrictions at this time he is wearing his facemask that proudly displays is Carefree Adventures logo. He is greeted at the door by all of the ladies at the salon hooting and hollering as he enters the building. Before he loses his ponytail he sits in the chair and expresses his gratefulness for everyone who is supporting him. According to Johnny what he is going through is nothing more than a “temporary inconvenience”. He regaled us with the story of how Rosie has been working for 20 years to get Johnny’s hair and mustache just right. He goes on to tell us that yes he is going to lose his hair, his eyebrows and even his mustache.

As he says, “losing my hair and eyebrows is OK but I want to keep my mustache”. Briefly he becomes very emotional and find it difficult to speak.

When he does speak he tells us, “I may lose his hair but he will never lose his faith”. Johnny is confident that his faith in God is what is going to help him get through all of this.

Johnny tells us how the year 2020 has been very difficult up to this point. COVID-19 shut down his business, then the Ocotillo fire burned his business down and now this diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Johnny doesn’t realize in the front of his mind that his story is very close to the story of Job. When life went bad for Job he kept his faith in God and came out on the other side OK and even better. To sit and listen to Johnny talk it is the same message. He believes but if he stays positive and keeps his faith he will come out on the other end better than he was before.

The video continues with him declaring that he will be back and he loves everyone who is helping him. Now we watch as his hair is washed dried and braided into a ponytail. The ponytail is then cut off and handed to Johnny.

The end of the video is a message from Rosie letting Johnny know that he has been strong for the Cave Creek community and how much people appreciate and love everything that he has done. She then tells Johnny he has been strong for us and now it is time for him to be strong for himself knowing that the community is behind him.

Please come back to this blog every week and continue watch this journey unfold.

As always Johnny wants you to know, “Thank you for your support and prayers and God bless all of you”.
